Why Inventory Platforms Need an AI Grading API
How marketplaces and inventory tools can add AI condition estimates at catalog scale without becoming a grading company.
Most inventory platforms already own the dealer workflow: scan, match, price, list. Condition is still the gap. Dealers either guess, hire eyes, or wait on slabs.
An AI grading API fills that gap inside the tools dealers already use.
What platforms actually need
Dealers do not want another login for every card. They want condition context where inventory already lives.
That means:
- Live grades when someone is working a single card or a short queue
- Bulk grades when a catalog needs a backfill
- Results you can show in your own UI (subgrades, overlays, report links)
Mint Condition is built for that shape: Partner API in, condition estimate out. You keep the customer relationship.
Scale is the product
A plugin that dies at a few thousand cards is not useful for real dealer catalogs.
Two modes:
- Live Grading: 30 sec per card with no limit
- Batched Grading: 100,000s of cards per day
- Catalog Size: No limit. We're not fazed by 10M card inventories.
Real scans are messy
Inventory apps cannot control how users photograph cards. Plenty of stock sits in penny sleeves.
Penny sleeve scans can still get accurate centering and defects when card surface is not covered by glare. Same API path whether your users sleeve stock or not.
Not a replacement for PSA, BGS, or SGC
Mint Condition returns AI condition estimates for triage, listing context, and ops. It is not certification. Official slabs still come from the grading companies.
The useful split for most shops:
- Use AI estimates to sort what to list raw, what to hold, and what to submit
- Send keepers to PSA, BGS, or SGC when you want a cert
How to plug in
At a high level:
- Authenticate with a partner key
- POST a SKU plus front and back image URLs
- Get grade, subgrades, overlay URLs, and a report link
Details live with partners after access is approved. Public marketing stays light on contract specifics for a reason.
Try it two ways
- Platforms: request Partner API access at /partners
- Your own shop: grade on mintconditiongrading.com with Batch, Bulk, Vault, or the iOS app
If you run inventory software, a marketplace, or dealer ops tools and want condition at catalog scale, start with the Partner API form.
